Privacy Policy
SmartPrint is built to be private. Your documents, scans, and photos stay on your device. We collect anonymous usage data to improve the app, and — only if you allow it — a device advertising identifier to measure the ads that bring people to us.
Last updated: July 22, 2026
The short version
- Your files, scans, and photos never leave your device, and we never upload or see them.
- There is no account, so we do not collect your name, email, or phone number.
- We collect anonymous, aggregated usage data to fix bugs and improve features. You can turn it off in Settings.
- We measure which ads bring people to the app only if you allow tracking. If you decline, we do not.
- Purchases are handled by Apple. We use a subscription provider to check your subscription status, never your payment details.
- We never sell your data to anyone.
Who we are
SmartPrint is created by NorthStudio ("we", "us"). If you have any question about this policy or your data, contact us at support@northstud.io.
What stays on your device
The content you work with in SmartPrint is processed on your device and stored only on your device (and in your own iCloud, if you enable iCloud sync). We do not receive, upload, or store any of it. This includes:
- Documents, PDFs, and files you import or create;
- Photos you select and images you scan with the camera;
- The text recognized from your scans;
- The documents you send to your printer.
Printing is handled by Apple's AirPrint. Your document goes directly from your device to your printer over your local network. It does not pass through our servers.
Anonymous analytics
To understand which features are useful and to fix crashes, we use third-party analytics tools — currently Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics), Mixpanel, and Microsoft Clarity. These collect a limited, anonymous set of information:
- Anonymous event names, such as "a scan was completed" or "a template was printed", and aggregate counts;
- A random, anonymous identifier that is not linked to your name or Apple ID;
- General device information such as device model, operating system version, and app version;
- Crash and performance diagnostics, and anonymous in-app interaction data used to improve the design.
We never send your files, scanned text, photo contents, printer details, or any personal information to these tools. You can turn analytics off at any time in Settings, and Release builds honor that choice.
Advertising and measurement
We run ads on platforms such as Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and Google to help people discover the app. To understand which ads work and keep the app affordable, we use the Meta and Google measurement tools built into the app.
- When you first open the app, iOS asks whether you allow tracking (the App Tracking Transparency prompt). Only if you allow it do we share your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) with these partners to attribute your install and measure ad performance.
- If you decline, we do not share the advertising identifier, and we rely only on Apple's privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork, which reports results in aggregate without identifying you.
- We also send these partners anonymous conversion signals, such as "a subscription started" and its value, so campaigns can be optimized. We never send your files, scans, photos, or personal information.
You can change your tracking choice at any time in iOS Settings, under Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Subscriptions and purchases
Smart Printer Pro is an auto-renewable subscription. All payments are processed by the Apple App Store; we never see or store your card or Apple ID. To confirm whether your subscription is active and to manage offers, we use Adapty, a subscription-management service. Adapty receives a random, anonymous app identifier and the purchase and subscription details Apple provides (for example, which product you bought and whether a trial is active). It does not receive your name or payment information.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, we use Firebase Cloud Messaging to send helpful reminders, tips, and occasional offers. For this, a device push token is stored — it is a delivery address for the notification, not personal information, and is not linked to your name or Apple ID. You can turn notifications off at any time in Settings or in iOS.
Permissions we ask for
- Camera — only when you scan a document. Images are processed on your device.
- Photos — only when you choose a photo to print or edit. We access only what you pick.
- Local network — to discover AirPrint printers on your Wi-Fi so you can print to them.
- Notifications — optional, for reminders and offers. You can decline or turn them off any time.
- Tracking — optional, to measure our ads. You can decline, and the app works fully either way.
Third-party services
Some parts of the app rely on services provided by others. Their handling of any data is governed by their own privacy policies:
- Apple (App Store, AirPrint, iCloud, payments) — apple.com/legal/privacy
- Google Firebase — firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Mixpanel — mixpanel.com/legal/privacy-policy
- Microsoft Clarity — privacy.microsoft.com
- Meta (Facebook) — facebook.com/privacy/policy
- Adapty — adapty.io/privacy
When you import a file from a cloud service such as iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive, you do so through Apple's own file picker. Your sign-in and access are handled by that service and Apple, not by us.
Children
SmartPrint is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The tracking prompt is not shown to accounts registered to children, and ad measurement is never enabled for them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will address it.
Data retention
Content on your device stays until you delete it or remove the app. Anonymous analytics and advertising measurement are retained in aggregate by the providers above according to their policies. A notification token is removed when it becomes invalid or when you turn notifications off.
International users
Our analytics, advertising, and subscription providers may process data on servers in the United States and other countries. No file or content data is ever involved.
Your choices
- Turn analytics off in Settings.
- Decline or revoke ad tracking in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Turn notifications off in Settings or iOS.
- Manage or cancel your subscription in the App Store, under your Apple ID → Subscriptions.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will post the new version here and update the date above. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app where appropriate.
